Uniformly bound in calf.

Illustrated with two portrait frontispieces to volume I, which also features a general title page. Collated, complete.

The complete dramatic works of Renaissance playwrights Francis Beaumont and John Fletcher, two popular English dramatists of the Renaissance period who made particularly rich contributions to early modern comic and tragicomic theatre.

They worked collaboratively, and co-authored several plays with one another, including The Woman Hater, Cupid's Revenge, and The Maid's Tragedy.

Two volumes are rebacked, with original back strips laid down, retaining original endpapers.

With the bookplate of Whig politician Edward Barrett Curteis to front free endpaper of each volume, and the bookplates of Whig politician Thomas Law Hodges and William Frederick D'Arley to the front pastedowns.

Condition

In full calf bindings, with gilt detailing to back strips. Externally, attractive. Volume V and IX rebacked, with original back strip laid down, retaining original endpapers. Back strips age toned, with front joint of volume I, VII, head of front joint of volume II, head and tail of rear joint of volume III, VIII, front and rear joint of volume IV, VI and X starting, with boards firmly held. Front joint of volume III starting, with board a touch tender. Bookplates to front pastedowns and front free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned due to paper type, but clean. Worming to the rear of volume I, with hole to tail of pages 351 to end of the work, and penetrating to rear pastedown. This worming affects catchwords, but not general text.
