What Our Customers Say...
Description
Leather Binding
A scarce work.
A collection of sermons published for the National Covenant of Scotland, with pieces by Andrew Cant, Thomas Coleman, Joseph Caryl, Philip Nye, Alexander Henderson, Thomas Case, Edmond Calamy, and more.
This volume includes a total of twenty-eight sermons, speeches, and exhortations, with interesting pieces on the history and state of the Church of Scotland in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
The pieces in this volume date from 1638 to 1663; the National Covenant was founded in 1638, an agreement signed which opposed reforms that King Charles I proposed to make to the Church of Scotland. These conflicts ultimately played a part in the English Civil War.
