This work is a travel classic, discussing Henry Maundrell's Easter pilgrimage from Aleppo to Jerusalem in the year 1697. Maundrell's writing had its start in his diary which he carried with his whilst he travelled. This edition includes a series of letters relating to the subject to the rear, and a short account of the author's journey from Aleppo to the River Euphrates, the City Beer, and to Mesopotamia.
Bound in full contemporary calf boards, re-backed in nineteenth century calf. Endpapers and blanks renewed.

Bookplate of Francis E. B. Witts to the front pastedown. Internally firmly bound with bright and generally clean pages with only the odd minor spot to the odd plate.
