Bound in contemporary full crushed morocco with gilt tooling.

Comprised of 'The Book of Common Prayer, and Administration of the Sacraments' (1731) bound with 'A Companion to the Altar' (1731), and 'The Whole Book of Psalms' (1732).

Containing information surrounding the sacraments, rites and ceremonies according to the Church of England. With chapters on the holy days, order of mass, type of prayer and other important dates throughout the year.

The 'Book of Common Prayer' is comprised of guidance for administering the sacraments and rites of the Church of England, also containing the Psalms of David to be sung or said in churches.

Illustrated with a frontispiece to 'A Companion to the Altar'. 

The personal copy of English author and artist, Brian Aldiss, with a note loosely inserted signed by Wendy Aldiss, executor to the Aldiss estate.

With an ink inscription of previous owner Jane Leginham, dated 1733, to the front endpaper. With additional inscriptions to the front blank, one of which is from Brian Aldiss.
