Humphrey Prideaux's best known work, being a discourse on the Islamic religion, and a defence of Christianity. Prideaux was a Cornish churchman and orientalist, who wrote this work to defend Christianity against the attacks of Diesm, which claimed that the bible was false. Throughout the work, Prideaux examines the Quran, claiming Islam to be the true imposture. 

The register runs as; A-N8, O2, I2. Collated, complete. 

Bound in full contemporary calf.

Condition

Bound in full contemporary calf. Externally, front joint weak, rear tender, with marks to the boards, wear to the extremities, and slight loss to a small portion of the front board. Light spotting to the endpapers with bookplate to the front pastedown, owner's gift inscription to the front free endpaper which is weak. Internally, firmly bound with bright and generally clean pages with the odd spot and light handling mark.
