Best known for this reference work originally published in 1699, the dictionary has been the basis of many subsequence French-English dictionaries.
Condition
In a contemporary calf binding. Small losses of leather to back strip head and tail. Losses of calf to board perimeters, and head of rear board. Lacking spine label. Joints starting, with boards firmly held. Significant hole, closed tears, and an inscription to the front blank, with rear blank partially adhered to rear pastedown. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned due to paper type, with the odd spot or handling mark, most concentrated to first and last few leaves. Lacking engraved frontispiece.
