A very scarce pamphlet containing a sermon presented to the University of Oxford by Thomas Bisse.
Complete with all leaves firmly bound.
Educated at Oxford himself, Bisse was a renowned, eloquent and enthusiastic preacher who often gave sermons at other churches and cathedrals, including St Pauls and the Rolls Chapel, as well as Hereford, Gloucester and Worcester cathedrals.
He is best known for his key role in the development of the Three Choirs Festival, which is held each year in turn at Hereford, Gloucester and Worcester Cathedrals.
Condition
No covers as issued, with sewn string binding the leaves. External leaves are smart, with age toning and light spotting. With a significant amount of edge wear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with a light damp stain affecting a few of the leaves, and the odd spot.
