Former owner's contemporary inscription has been excised from the title page. 

This work explores the use of plants in medicine during the eighteenth century.  There are chapters on poppies, hops, coriander, coffee, tea, chocolate, anise, rhubarb and many other fruits, trees, and plants.  

The work is presented in two parts: 'Of Evacuating Medicines' and 'Of Altering Medicines'.

Scarce in any edition.

Condition

In a contemporary panelled calf binding. Rebacked with the original boards preserved. Externally, smart. Minor rubbing to the board edges. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are slightly age toned with occasional spots to pages.
