The first edition of this very scarce work. 

A very scarce historical account on the history of factions and their effects on church and state written anonymously by Sackville Tufton, the 2nd Earl of Thanet. The work discusses the first accounts of faction, what the members of these factions believed and how they attempted to gain control over politics. 

The register runs continuously as A4, B8-F8, [f-f4], G8-M8. Collated, complete. The pagination from page pp.73 are only printed on the right hand side and include pagination errors as is usual with this work. 

Bound in modern calf. Endpapers and blanks renewed.

Bound in modern calf. Endpapers and blanks renewed. Externally lovely with only very slight marks to the boards. Internally firmly bound with lightly age toned pages, with slight loss to the head of the title page, marks opposite the title page, and spotting and the odd mark to the front, otherwise only the odd spot.
