The first edition of volume III only of the three volume first edition of this work from French novelist, journalist, pamphleteer and memorialist Gatien de Courtilz de Sandras.
These memoirs of d'Artagnan are the work of Courtilz de Sandras, who is said to have written them based on archives and direct testimonies. Alexandre Dumas drew extensive inspiration from them to compose 'The Three Musketeers' in the 1840s.

The first edition of a single volume of the narrative of the life of d'Artagnan, a French Musketeer who served Louis XIV as captain of the Musketeers of the Guard. This account predates the novelisation of Charles Dumas.
Condition
In a full calf binding, with gilt detailing to back strip. Minor loss of calf to back strip head, and minor loss towards head of rear joint. Front board age toned to head and fore edge. Front joint head starting, with board firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age toned, but generally clean, with only the odd spot.
