Bound in full calf, rebacked.

Dated using Jisc, from a copy of the work held at the University of Oxford.

'Le Roman Comique' was written in parts, with the first part published in 1651, the second in 1657 and the third left unfinished due to the author's untimely death. The novels centers on a group of actors living in Le Mans, recounting their exciting adventures, with themes of romance, destiny, treachery and much more.

In the original French, this novel was written by Paris-born novelist, dramatist and poet, Paul Scarron.

Illustrated with a frontispiece. Collated, complete.

Condition

Bound in full calf, rebacked. Endpapers renewed. No half title. Externally, worn, with loss to boards and backstrip, heavier to backstrip head. Small worming holes to the backstrip. Hinges are a little strained, but holding firm. Internally, pages are a touch age toned, with the odd spot or mark.
