Hatton covers subjects such as bookkeeping, exchange, weights and measures, interest and discount, and the calculation of profit and loss, alongside information on trade practices and commercial law.

Illustrated with eight plates. Collated, lacking one plate, being a portrait of the author.

Rebound in half calf, with cloth covered boards, and with endpapers renewed. Externally, fine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages significantly age toned due to paper type, with significant spotting to title page and final leaf, and further spotting and foxing throughout. Instances of ink handling marks throughout. Former owner's inscription to verso of title page, to fore edge of leaf 2E, head of leaf B, tail of leaf B2, leaf M, U2, Y3, 2H, P2 small hole to centre of final leaf, resulting in loss to a small number of words. Lacking eight text leaves, being E4, N, Z1-2, and 2L1-4.
