What Our Customers Say...
Description
Leather Binding
Two comedic plays by Aristophanes, printed in this volume in both Greek and Latin.
This volume includes 'Plutus' and 'Nubes', which translate to English as 'Wealth' and 'The Clouds'.
'Plutus' was written in 388 BCE. A political satire on contemporary Athens, featuring the personified god of wealth Plutus.
'Nubes' was written in 423 BCE for the City Dionysia, though it was not as well received as Aristophanes hoped. The play lampooned the intellectual fashions in classical Athens.
Both of these plays reflect the development of Old Comedy towards New Comedy.
