Description

Very Scarce

This very scarce pamphlet documents the reignition of the of the Unitarian Controversy in the late seventeenth century. In response to John Wallis's Letter on the Doctrine of the Blessed Trinity, Stephen Nye reignites and revives theological arguments surrounding the holy trinity. Although the debate had been largely dormant since the death of John Biddle in 1662, the controversy resurfaced through anonymous pamphlets such as the present after the Act of Toleration in 1689 excluded anti-trinitarian beliefs. Nye points out the differences between Arian, Socinian, Tritheist, and Sabellian views in this demonstration of the fractured theology of the Church of England in the seventeenth century. Undated. Dated using JISC from a copy held at the University of Oxford Libraries. No author given. Established using JISC, where several university libraries including the University of Oxford attribute the work to Stephen Nye.
