The first edition of this uncommon work.
This is Owtram's best known work, in which he presents an in-depth study on religious ritual sacrifice. The first book focuses on Hebrew rituals and sacrifices, the second on the Christian concept of sacrifice.
A monumental anti-Trinitarian text, of which an English translation by John Allen was later published in 1817.
Owtram, sometimes spelled as Outram, was a clergyman who became the Archdeacon of Leicester in 1669.

Condition
In a full vellum binding. Externally, discoloured and a little marked, as is usual to see with a vellum binding. Lacking part of the backstrip, remaining backstrip lifting a little, particularly to the front joint. Minor bumping to the extremities. A small patch of worming to the rear joint. Front hinge is a little strained but remains firm. Ink inscription to the front paste down, and recto of the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned, with the occasional spot and handling mark. Ink inscription to the title page.
