Contemporary ink inscriptions to recto and verso of a front blank from Matthew Hickeringill, seemingly including calculations of rent payments, and with his inscription also to the tail of the final text leaf, to the tail of the title page, and to the title page verso.
Hughes says he wrote this book in response to 'the earnest request of some eminent men of the Clergy'.
Condition
Rebound in calf, with endpapers renewed. Externally, fine. Contemporary inscriptions to recto and verso of front blank. Internally, firmly bound. Pages significantly age toned due to paper type, with handling marks and foxing throughout. Inscription to tail of final text leaf, tail of title page, and verso of title page. Loss to tail of fore edge of leaf K2, not affecting text.
