This volume collects together the known surviving works of Tacitus, a Roman historian and politician active from cAD56 to c120.
Tacitus is considered to be one of the greatest Roman historians, in particular for his two major works 'Annales' and 'Historiae', both of which are included in this volume in their surviving form. Those two works form a continuous history of the Roman Empire, from the death of Augustus in 14 AD, to the end of Domitian's reign in 96 AD.
This edition was edited by Justus Lipsius, and C. Velleius Paterculus.
Reprinted from the edition of the Plantin presses in 1627.
