A very scarce seventeenth century study of the Old Testament by Louis de Dieu [Lodewijk de Dieu]. Dieu was a Dutch protestant minister and prominent linguist, being an expert orientalist, known for creating an early work on Persian Grammar. In this work, the author examines and dissects the Old Testament, providing an analysis and translation of the Syrian, Arabic, and Hebrew editions of the bible.
The register runs as *-*4, A-Z4, Aa-Zz4, Aaa-Zzz4, Aaaa-Zzzz4, Aaaaa-Ddddd4. Collated, complete.

Condition
Bound in full contemporary calf. Externally, rubbed to the extremities, raised bands and joints, with marks to the boards, loss to the tail of the spine, and joints starting slightly at the head and tail, with small closed tears to the head of the spine. Marks to the endpapers. Internally generally firmly bound with slight strain in places. Pages bright, with light handling marks to the title page, otherwise clean. Front blanks pages creased.
