Published in the same year as the first edition, but with a different publisher (Cardon, rather than Prost).
Written during an era of European religious turmoil, this work was popular upon publication for its inclusion of history of the Catholic Church, bishops, and popes.
With a library bookplate of St Augustine's Abbey, Ramsgate to the front pastedown.

A famous casuist, Diana was a consultor of the Holy Office of the Kingdom of Sicily and an examiner of bishops under Urban VIII, Innocent X, and Alexander VII.
Condition
In a full calf binding. Handwritten title and date labels to back strip. Loss of leather to back strip head. Rear joint starting to head and tail, with board firmly held. Front hinge strained, with board tenderly held by one cord only. Bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound, but with gathering 2A working loose. Light tide marks to gathering A. Loss to perimeters of 2G6, affecting text. Pages lightly age toned due to paper type, with handling mars throughout. Significant loss to perimeters of final leaf.
