Pindar's best known poems are his odes on the celebrations and high points of the Olympic games. These odes are an important source for historians, giving a detailed explanation of what the Olympics meant to Ancient Greece's citizens and athletes.
Including the Victory Odes, which are named after the Olympian, Pythian, Isthmian and Nemean games.
Condition
Bound in full calf. Endpapers and blanks retained. Externally, generally smart, with rubbing to boards and joints. Joints are cracked with hinges tender, cords visible. Surface cracks to backstrip and a little loss the the backstrip ends. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean. Pages are closely trimmed, occasionally losing a little of the page titles. Ink inscription to front free endpaper.
